Twilight

Let's admit it. No REAL person would be perfect enough to portray Edward Cullen. Besides, everyone has their own vision of who their Edward is. Mine was James Franco.

With this premise, I went to the theater with very low expectation on the movie. Adding to that, I didn't particularly like the actor they chose to play the dashing vampire. I didn't even like him as the wizard killed by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. I also have this standing impression of never liking a film adaptation of any book I loved, with the exception of the LOTR trilogy. For me, the book was always better than its bigscreen version.

Which probably explained why I "enjoyed" Twilight the movie.

The movie plot was generally faithful to the book's story although the musical scoring failed to effectively accompany the scenes. The shrieking of the teenage girls inside the theater were more compelling.

Robert Pattinson's acting was as bland and cold as a vampire. But I guess Edward Cullen's character was really so endearing that it carried him (the actor) till the end of the movie. And yeah, that scene where he walked Bella to school with his sunglasses on, he was undeniably HOT there.

The actors playing Bella and Chief Swan though gave justice to their respective roles. I actually liked Bella in the movie! However, Jacob Black was another story (I am from Team Jacob so I have high expectations). So let's just leave that one till the next saga.

Albeit bland acting and scoring, Bella and Edward's courtship and love story were indeed so romantic and engaging (remember reading the first book till 4 in the am?), you can't help but be kilig throughout the film.

So I say, go out and watch it!
And then go read the book again. :)
