EVANTales: Graduation Day

March 19, 2010
Philamlife Auditorium, Manila

My lil 4yo man finished Senior Nursery, snatching the English Ace award! We are absolutely and completely proud parents. :)

His "super friends" came to celebrate this special day as well. Can you catch all of them in the vid? :)

Awesome vfx and edit by superdad Riki. Awesome voice-over by the Graduate himself. \m/

EVANTales: Lab Story

February 21, 2010
Enchanted Kingdom, Laguna

It was Family Day for Evan's pre-school. Children, parents and teachers all had fun playing games, eating treats and trying all the park rides.

Riki, on the other hand, took a lot of pictures of Evan and his friend Anci when they were innocently playing together, stitched the photos to a vclip and made up a (love) story. With a funny twist as an ending. Hehe...

RookieDad & Evan's TV "MOMent" (part 1)

February 27, 2010
6:30 pm - Ch. Net25
Manila

My boys have conquered the (local) tube!

The tv program "MOMents" in Net25 found his blog on the web and invited Riki to share his "rookiedaddyhood moments" in the show. They shot the interview and some family clips at our home on a Monday night, the clip was aired five days after.

This is part 1 of their "12 minutes of fame" :)

Evan & RookieDad rock! :D

RookieDad & Evan's TV "MOMent" (part 2)

After 7 minutes of interview/family clips, we thought the feature was over already when they did a commercial break.

But whoa! there's more!
The next 5 minutes featured Riki's home videos. Evan all over! hehehe.
Maximum airtime indeed.

This is part 2 of their "12 minutes of fame" :)

He is not just the dragon dancer, he is also a member of the Poet Society! Here is my lil rocknrolla reciting 'Dong Wu Yuan Li' (Inside the Zoo).

Evan rocks! :)

EVANTales: The Dragon Dancer

February 12, 2010
Makati

Celebration of the Chinese New Year will not be complete without the dragon dance.

Evan was chosen to be one of the dragon dancers for their pre-school's CNY program last Friday. He did a magnificent job! We are so proud!

*With special appearance by the "Year of the Tiger" dude! Find him! hehe!

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone! :)

EVANTales: Zoo Field Trip

February 4, Thursday:
Avilon Zoo, Ortigas

To wrap up their class discussions about endangered animals, Evan and the rest of the Bel-Air gang went on a field trip to the zoo.

As my boy's previous experience with zoo trips involved going around hectares of land, he insisted on bringing his binoculars. He won't budge even if we told him this zoo is indoors. Lola ended up carrying it the rest of the morning. Hehe.

Evan is an animal lover, so as expected, he had a blast (and requested the family to go back there by the coming weekend...oh dear).

...when all through the Garcia house
everybody was stirring, even a mouse.

Evan just want to thank all of her generous Ninongs and Ninangs, Titos and Titas who made his Xmas eve truly wonderful! :)

And yes, thanks Santa/St. Nick for the Christmas present! Till next year!
Ho ho ho!

EVANTales : Xmas/Year-end Party

December 18, 2009
Makati

Evan's been sick this week and had been absent for two days, but luckily, was given an ok signal by his Pedia to attend the Friday party.

He had been looking forward to this last day of school, so he can give his Christmas gifts to his dear friends. Thank God for antibiotics!

Now the 2-week long vacation starts! :)
Ho ho ho indeed!

EVANTales: My First Christmas Concert

December 9, 2009
Philamlife Theater Auditorium
Manila

Evan's preschool organized a Christmas concert entitled "Our Giving Hearts" for the benefit of the Children's Joy Foundation.

It was a morning of Christmas songs and dances, of little tots wailing on stage as the red curtain opens, and of preschoolers giving awesome performances.

Evan cried during rehearsal day and was not able to practice so we were anxious how he will do during the live performance. He did great!!! My lil rocknrolla rocked the auditorium with his adorable moves (hehe!). Not even a hint of stage fright. :)

Mom was teary-eyed the whole performance thus the shaky and unfocused pictures.

Bel-Air chapter represent!
I'm so proud of you Evan, mwah! :)

EVANTales: Family Day in School

November 13, 2009
Makati City

For Family Day, parents were encouraged to share to the class what are their bonding activities with their kids.

The super duo Riki and Evan wowed everyone with their awesome videos of daddy-son Wii and soccer games, passion for robots, and yes, even counting in Chinese!

Mom (as useless) was nowhere in sight, the corporate slave that she was. :(

Evan's Dad, you're the best! Mwah!

EVANTales: Trick or Treat @ School & Work

October 29 & 30, 2009
Makati City

I bought Evan new Ninja (Snake Eyes) and Vampire (that Cullen) costumes this year for his Halloween gigs. But during "dress rehearsal", he ditched them all over his old Gryffindor robe. I couldn't be happier! Haha!

It was such a hit with his teachers and classmates in school! And yes, even my colleagues in the office loved it! They all wanted a picture with him :)

And most important of all, Evan had a blast trick or treating this year! He said so himself. :D

"Double, double toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
Double, double toil and trouble
Something wicked this way comes!"

Happy Halloween Muggles!

EVANTales: Let's Count in Mandarin!

October 2009
TGR Home

After doing review sessions with Evan for his 1st semester exams, we realized he is now way better at speaking Chinese than us. We may know the Pinyin words, but we can't pronounce it properly. Evan ended up correcting us all the time. Haha!

The parents have a lot of catching up to do!
Now let's learn how to count (and say it properly) in Mandarin!

EVANTales: 4th Birthday Treat

Sept 8, 2009
EALC

Evan celebrated his birthday with his dear tong xue(s) by treating them to yummy snacks and giving away loot bags. The kids were so adorable, and they got so excited when they saw the balloons! Such innocence. :)

They made Evan a special Birthday Banner and even sang the Happy Birthday song to him both in English and Chinese! Evan got a lot of hugs after giving out his loot bags. How sweet.

zhù nǐ shēng rì kuài lè
zhù nǐ shēng rì kuài lè
zhù nǐ shēng rì kuài lè
zhù nǐ yǒngyuǎn kuài lè!

Happy Birthday, Evan dearest! :D
Glad you enjoyed your party and the many gifts :)

EVANTales: Fantastic FOUR

Sept 6-7, 2009
Greenbelt 1/Home

My little man turned 4 last September 7! :D

His school co-sponsored the Sunday matinee show of 'Jack & the Beanstalk' so that kick-started our birthday activities. Loved the Giant!

Then, Monday was declared a non-working holiday (hooray!), so we had an intimate celebration at home, with a quick trip to the mall for lunch and birthday-gift shopping.

His birthday party at school (originally scheduled for Monday) was moved to Tuesday instead.

Happy Birthday EVAN!!! We love you 64 billion times! :)

EVANTales: First Confinement

July 28-31, 2009
TMC

Three trips to the ER + three visits to his Pediatrician, all within a span of one week and Evan's diarrhea still haven't stopped. So his Doctor and us decided to finally admit him just to ensure he won't get dehydrated.

It was heart-breaking to see him cry of pain when being pinched with needles and IV insertions. But after that, he was such a good patient the nurses in his floor all loved him. He took all his medicine obediently (after you explain to him what it's for and how it taste - he doesn't like surprises).

It was three days of Cartoon Network + Disney Channel, and bland hospital food. After that, we three were all ready to leave "the doctor's hotel room", as Evan refers to it.

EVANTales: First Day in Senior Nursery

Makati

New school, new friends - hěn gāoxìng jiàndào nǐ!

Evan was sad leaving behind his old buddies in his previous school, but after a week, he had quickly immersed himself in his new group. Good thing parents were allowed to stay in the waiting area for the first week, so we were able to guide and watch Evan adjust to his new environment.

Now he looks forward to each school day! :D
