Illinois: Skokie & Des Plaines

August 23-24, 2008:

The main reason for our Illinois vacation was to visit the family of my grandfather, whom we fondly call Tito Dick. His family migrated to the US when I was still a baby and thus, we have not seen his kids and their own families yet.

It was such a happy reunion! We clicked right away and Evan gained another friend, his Kuya Dylan. We spend the whole weekend EATING Chicago's famous dogs, deep dish pizza and Pinoy home-made ice cream. They even prepared a surprise Tiki party for my Mom who was celebrating her 60th birthday!

To the Magahis family, thanks again for a wonderful time and hope to see you all soon in Pinas! Love you all! :)

Canada: Toronto Islands

The two main reasons why we decided to go to Toronto is to see the Niagara Falls and to visit my brother's girlfriend, Chrystal. We decided to reserve our Toronto Islands trip on the day she is available to meet us, since that's the only city site she hasn't been to yet.

Throughout the whole week while we were in Toronto, the weather had been very good, the sun was always out. Unfortunately, on the last day when we are slotted to ride the ferry to the islands, the sun decided to take a hiatus. Nevertheless, we still had a lot of fun exploring the island on foot and riding the quadcycle!

Thanks Chrystal for all the ROOTS souvenirs! We had a great time and hope to see you again soon! Mwah! :)
